Abstract

This study aims to reveal and analyze the strategies implemented by the school in order to increase student motivation in memorizing the Al-Qur'an at the Al-Mahmud Keli Integrated Islamic Junior High School (IT), Bima Regency. The background of this study is based on the urgency of fostering Al-Qur'an memorization as an integral part of Islamic character education. However, there are still obstacles that disrupt the consistency and enthusiasm of students in the memorization process, both internal and external. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study research type. Data collection techniques are carried out through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with key informants, and documentation. Informants in this study include the principal, tahfiz teachers, general subject teachers, and students who are actively involved in the tahfidz program. The research findings show that the school's strategies in increasing student motivation in memorizing include: (1) implementing morning memorization and daily muraja'ah routines; (2) internalizing Islamic values through sermons and motivational messages before learning; (3) strengthening the capacity of tahfidz teachers as spiritual guides and motivators for students; (4) implementing a memorization target system and periodic evaluation; (5) providing appreciation to students who demonstrate memorization achievements; (6) organizing intensive programs such as tahfidz camps and overnight stays to create a conducive learning atmosphere; and (7) active involvement of parents through regular communication and moral support in the home environment. These strategies significantly contribute to building discipline, fostering a spirit of learning, and increasing students' love for the Qur'an.
