Abstract

The revitalization that has been planned and implemented since 2015 at the Oro-Oro Dowo market in Malang is a strategic plan to increase competitiveness with other modern markets, and these steps are bearing fruit, as the example in this study shows that the success of revitalization also depends on the following factors: other factors, such as enhancing and empowering the role of the community. This research was conducted at the Oro-oro Dowo Market, Malang City. Meanwhile, the time for field studies is from June to August 2022. The research informants include representatives from the government, associations and related traders. Data collection methods are, observation, interviews and documentation. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of case study research and is analyzed with primary data through direct interviews with research informants and secondary data obtained from various references such as journals, books and other literature. The results of this study indicate that: First, in achieving successful market management regarding the competitiveness of stakeholders, associations and related parties must have cooperation in improving performance. Second, security in the market is considered in order to maintain consumer comfort. Third, the implementation of regulations set for traders must be obeyed in order to maintain stability in the market as well as comfort and cleanliness. Fourth, the association plays a role as a forum for knowledge of the government or market managers in conveying new insights or regulations to traders. Fifth, the activeness of the association in managing the market is a manifestation of the synergistic program between the association and the local government agency. The form of successful implementation of revitalization cannot be seen after revitalization, but is sustainable, because the concept of revitalization depends on activities, as well as market economic turnover and its benefits for local government revenues, therefore revitalization continues to develop according to the needs of the times assisted by the role of stakeholders including the government regions, market managers and the role of associations.
