Abstract

Personal deixis is a pronoun that indicates the speaker, the interlocutor, and the person being spoken of. The novel "Jendela-Jendela" by Fira Basuki is a novel that contains the twists and turns of the lives of lovers living in developed countries which are often considered good if they live in developed countries. This study aims to explain (1) the variety of persona deixis, (2) the form of persona deixis, and (3) the meaning of persona deixis in the novel Jendela-Jendela by Fira Basuki. The method in this study uses qualitative research methods described in the dialogues of the characters in the story. Sources of data in the conversation are the characters in the research on the variety of person deixis, the forms of person deixis in the novel Jendela-Jendela by Fira Basuki. The data went through several stages, namely (1) selecting and recording data, (2) categorizing the data, (3) analyzing the data, (4) concluding the data and verifying the data. This research was conducted through several processes, namely implementation, analysis, and completion. The results in this study produce (1) a variety of personal deixis containing the use of pronouns in first person deixis, second person deixis, and third person deixis which are widely used in casual situations, to people who already know each other. (2) The forms of second person deixis include the use of the first person singular and plural, the second person singular and plural, and the third person singular and plural used in formal situations (at work), casual and used. for people who are respected, such as superiors. at work, and to friends, associates, and family. Finally, it explains about (3) the meaning of personal deixis which includes referential meaning and construction meaning. Referential meaning produces pronouns that refer to a person. While the meaning of construction produces more pronouns that lead to the first person whose pronoun is used as a statement of someone's ownership.
