Abstract

The fishing community in Kangayan Village has a fishing group called Takat Monarwi which of course greatly influences fishermen's behavior. The aim of this research is to analyze the behavior of traditional fishermen in Kangayan Village, Kangayan District, Sumenep Regency. The method used is a qualitative method. Data collection through interviews, observation, documentation and literature study. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The population in this study was the Takat Monarwi fishermen group with a sample size of 11 people. The results of this research illustrate that culture, which consists of elements of religious systems and religious ceremonies, social systems and organizations, knowledge systems, language, arts, and technological systems and equipment, greatly influences the behavior of fishermen in Kangayan Village. These cultural factors shape the behavior of traditional fishermen in Kangayan Village when they work.
