Abstract

Reading is a valuable skill for improving the capacity to communicate properly and efficiently in a second or foreign language. It is an essential English language skill for pupils at all levels of schooling. Nonetheless, various issues arose in the process of improving reading comprehension. One of these issues was the students' lack of ambition to develop, as well as their tendency of using Indonesian in everyday situations and frequently forget new English terminology. As a result, the purpose of this study was to determine whether or not RPG games had a substantial influence on students' reading achievement. This study included qualitative methodologies as well as descriptive ones. Furthermore, this study was carried out at Trunojoyo Madura University, especially during the eighth semester of Information System. The researcher recruited five students from the eighth semester of Information System who play Genshin Impact as the form of RPG games and conducted an in-depth interview with each informant. According to the findings of the study, three out of every five students already knew the fundamentals of English reading and a large amount of English vocabulary from playing previous RPG games prior to playing Genshin Impact. The other kids increased their reading comprehension by conversing with random game participants. In other words, it can be stated that RPG Games can have a major impact on enhancing student’s reading comprehension and can be promoted as a teaching tool by both academic and non-academic groups.
