Abstract

The learning of arabic grammatical concepts as a tool for reading Arabic texts in “Kitab Gundul” tends to be theoretical, rote, and takes a relatively long time. Solving these learning problems must be done through selection and gradation of learning textbook materials. The textbook “5 Langkah Jitu Membaca Kitab Gundul” by Abdul Haris has an offer in solving this problem. Therefore, the study aims to analyze the selection and gradation of textbook material “5 Langkah Jitu Membaca Kitab Gundul” by Abdul Haris. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research. The data was collected using documentation techniques by collecting and reading the textbooks studied, then analyzed using content analysis. The conclusion of the results of this study is, the selection and gradation of the textbook material “5 Langkah Jitu Membaca Kitab Gundul” by Abdul Haris refers to the principle of selection including learning objectives for reading Arabic texts (class or independent), the level of need for target audiences, learning time, language simplification, and offers a surefire step called “Jie Sam Soe” as a possible factor to learn. Meanwhile, gradations are arranged based on grouping according to the uniformity of the material using grammatical categories, and sorting starts from material about the concept of words, sentences, to analyzing sentence structures with technique 234 or “Jie Sam Soe” using the rotary gradation type.
