Abstract
The purpose of this study is to describe why Greenpeace experienced obstacles in tackling deforestation in Brazil during the reign of Jair Bolsonaro and explain the efforts made by Greenpeace to reduce deforestation in Brazil. The election of Brazilian president Jair Bolosnaro actually caused Brazil to be in the highest deforestation rate from previous years. Through the explanatory research method, this research uses the concept of Environmental Scarcity and Extrativism Theory In answering the problem formulation. Based on the data collected for this research, there are results that why Greenpeace is experiencing obstacles in suppressing deforestation, namely. Due to the president's policies that are not pro to the environment, such as; budget cuts in the environmental sector, policies related to development and industry in the Amazon forest and policies to relax supervision of foreign investors.
