Abstract
This study examines the instincts of characters in the novel by Amie elFatihah Cinta Faraby. Instinct is a picture of a person's instinct in responding to a stimulus to fulfill his satisfaction. This study aims to describe the instincts of the characters contained in the novel Fatihah Cinta by Amie el-Faraby. The object used in this research is dialogue between characters. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with a literary psychology approach. The data source in this study is a novel entitled Fatihah Cinta by Amie el-Faraby. The technique of collecting data used for this research is literature study. The data analysis technique in this research is descriptive qualitative with data analysis, description of classification results, and conclusions. The results of this study are. 1) life instincts, 2) death instincts as a form of critical understanding that after a stimulus is given there are two possibilities, namely responding according to the goal or the opposite of the goal given by the stimulus. Wiliam Mc Dougel's perspective is shared for readers to describe and provide an instinctual picture based on the main character in Amie el-Faraby's Fatihah Cinta.
