Abstract

Sociopragmatics is a combination of two disciplines, namely sociology and pragmatics. These disciplines examine speech and relate it to the social context. In pragmatics, there are theories that study speech acts, one of which is imperative speech. Imperative utterances are sentences that contain utterances of commanding, forcing, ordering, inviting, and asking the speech partner to do what has been said. Imperative utterances are often encountered in everyday life. One of them is the Mata Najwa show which is used as the object of this research. The method used in this research is descriptive method which is used to make it easier to analyze the data. The results of this study are imperative speech which are classified as follows: (1) declarative functions, (2) representative functions, (3) expressive functions, (4) directive functions, and (5) commissive functions.
