Abstract
In learning, of course, teachers and students always communicate. Communication in learning, of course, uses language. With diverse backgrounds between teachers and students, language skills are also diverse. The existence of this diversity is very possible in communication. There is a change in language. This study examines code switching in learning at Darul Ma'arif Islamic Boarding School. Communication, of course, uses spoken language to convey something. Humans are given the gift of having the ability to speak more than one language, so that in speaking it is possible to change languages The research method used is a qualitative research type. Sources of research data are teachers and students who are carrying out learning activities. The data obtained is the result of a speech from the teacher and students. Data collection techniques are listening or observation, tapping, and follow-up techniques, including free listening, conversation, recording, and notes. Data is analyzed by collecting and grouping data, organizing data by data coding based on form and code transfer factors. From the results and discussion in this study, it can be concluded that there are two forms of code switching in learning at the Darul Ma'arif Islamic boarding school, namely internal and external. The internal form is code switching from the regional language, namely Javanese to Indonesian and vice versa. The factors that cause language changes when learning takes place from three subjects, namely English, are (1) speakers (2) speech partners. Ta'limul Muta'alim (1) speaker (2) speech partner (3) generator of a sense of humor. ASWAJA are (1) speakers, (2) speech partners, (3) generators of a sense of humor, and (4) topics of discussion.
