Abstract

The Lesti watershed is part of the Brantas watershed which also has a very important role in storing or receiving rainwater and bringing water to the Brantas river, which then empties into the Sengguruh reservoir. Prioritized sub-watershed, where the area has complex problems with land damage, erosion, landslides, fluctuations in river discharge, and high sedimentation, thus requiring serious efforts to deal with regional structuring to prevent further damage. This study aims to analyze changes in land cover on fluctuations in water flow in the Lesti sub-watershed in the Brantas watershed, how is the land cover and fluctuations in water flow around the Lesti sub-watershed. The method used is analyzing the Pearson correlation (Correlate Bivariate) used to determine the relationship between one variable and another variable linearly. The data used is interval or ratio scale. The correlation value ( r ) is 0 to 1, the closer to 1 the stronger the relationship. On the other hand, the closer the value to 0, the weaker the relationship. The results of this study indicate that the fluctuations that occur in the Lesti sub-watershed are caused by changes in land use, namely the decreasing forest cover area accompanied by an increase in rainfall. Based on the results of the analysis conducted during the period 2009 – 2016 on the R value with a significance value of 0.7 > 0.5, there is a significant relationship between the area of rainfall and water discharge. The influencing factor is changes in land cover, causing changes in water discharge in the Lesti sub-watershed.
