Abstract

Film is one of the mass media that can be used to convey messages and information. It can be used to reflect reality, or even form reality with fiction or non-fiction (documentary) stories. Movies are actually a means of entertainment with a variety of interesting genres, one of which is superhero. The figure of an American superhero has always been synonymous with a white figure with blonde hair and has blue eyes color. However, the emergence of the film The Falcon and The Winter Soldier seemed to kick off the myth by featuring the figure of Falcon, a black superhero as an icon of American superheroes. The research itself comes to see the extent to which falcon is represented as a superhero icon in the film. Qualitative descriptive is the research method that the authors used in this study. With the understanding that film is a form of hypereality in which it becomes a representation. Semiotics John Fiske is used to analyze with 3 elements of understanding namely Reality, Representation and Ideology. The analysis technique is done by collecting data about the film The Falcon and The Winter Soldier by observing it, then describing it into the 3 elements that give rise to the meaning of how the American superhero was successfully represented in the figure of Falcon in the film The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
