Abstract

This report aims to describe the role of social media specialists in the online journalism activities of farenting.com. In the current digital era, convergency media occurs. Social media become new media with a very high number of users. Information can spread through one application only. Even, media provides varied information from politics, economy, education, social, to parenting. The researcher acted as a social media specialist. In farenting.com, social media spesialist functions to manage social media for promotion and publication. After practicing online media management from April 7 – October 21 2020, it can be concluded that farenting.com manages to pass the visitors’ expectation. Farenting.com has 11,644 views. Social media become the main channel for viewers to visit farenting.com with 57.7% visitors. The significant influence of social media shows the need of important roles of social media specialists to manage social media accounts. Social media spesialists have to reflects farenting through content and interaction in the social media.
