Abstract

Being an army wife (TNI-AD) required stronger resiliency than those who are not. A strong resiliency is a key attribute for army wives effectively coping with various life challenges unique to an army family. Furthermore, there would be added challenges when they live in the army dormitory and have to live by themselves due to their husbands' army duty for a certain period. This condition is causing the wives to carry all the household responsibilities, which may add psychological pressures for them. Being a resilient army wive shaped them into a reliable person with strong efficacy to deal with challenges as an army family. This study aimed to determine the effect of self-efficacy towards resilience among army wives (TNI-AD) who live in the dormitory. Based on the purposive sampling with the following required characteristics of an army wife (TNI-AD) living in a dormitory located in the city of X dan Y. A total of 136 samples age between 20 and 50 live in the dormitory, both left by their husbands for an army duty or not, participated in this study. This study using two adapted surveys of the General Self-Efficacy (GSE) to measure self-efficacy and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) to measure resilience. Based on the simple linear regression, the result showed a significant effect between self-efficacy and resilience among the army wives (TNI-AD) who live in the dormitory.
