Abstract
The demand for vegetables is always increasing as the population grows and awareness of nutritional needs. Kale plants are currently becoming the prima donna of horticultural commodities that are much in demand by the public. However, the sustainability of the vegetable farming sector is faced with a serious threat, namely the area of agricultural land that continues to shrink due to the conversion of productive agricultural land to non-agricultural use. One alternative to cultivation is cultivation by hydroponic means. The key in the success of hydroponic cultivation according to (Sholihat et al., 2018) there are three main elements namely, water, light and also nutrition. This study aims to find out the composition of nutrients and the exact length of flow time for the growth of kale plants. This study was conducted in Greenhouse with a random group design (RAK) factorial with the first factor of nutrition composition A, B, C, and D. The 2nd treatment factor is the length of time the water flow turns on 15 minutes off 30 minutes (T1), turns on 15 minutes off 45 minutes (T2), and turns on 15 minutes off 60 minutes (T3). The results showed that when reviewed from the height of the plant, the number of leaves, the wet weight of the treatment of nutrient composition A and the time of water burning 15 minutes off 30 minutes (AT1) had the highest average value. The best nutritional composition is reviewed in terms of plant height, leaf count, wet weight, is nutrient composition A. Long treatment of water flow time reviewed from plant height, number of leaves, wet weight and dry weight of long treatment of T1 water flow time (15 minutes on and 30 minutes off) shows the best average growth.
