Abstract
Speaking is the ability to speak fluently and presupposes not only knowledge of language features, but also the ability to process information and language ‘on the spot’ while Quianthy. In learning speaking Students’ anxiety is a real problem that majority of students face in learning English as a foreign language, some learners may claim to have a mental block against anxiety when they come to learn to speak a second or foreign language. It make students have less confidence, stress, and nervousness that impede their learning process. This research was aimed to find out the factors of anxiety encounter by students in speaking class at English Language Education Department University of Muhammadiyah Malang and the solution to solve students anxiety in speaking class. This research used descriptive design as it was conducted to obtain and comprehend some phenomena related to the factors of anxiety encountered by students in speaking class at English Language Education Department UMM. The subject of this research were involving all the students from two classes in which each class consisted of 19 and 20 students. The data collection was conducted during one week, 6 days of observation and 1 day intervew process. Additionally, the instrument of this research were using observation field note and interview guide. In conclusion, the researcher found that there were three factors of anxiety encountered by students in speaking class,namely: communication apprehension, test anxiety and fear of negative evaluation. Besides, the students solution toward student’s anxiety in speaking class, such as: the students have to relax before speaking in front of the class or doing a presentation in the class, students have to practicing and prepare the material well.
