Abstract
Lapindo mud disaster in Sidoarjo regency which has occured since 2006, it still actively releases and spits out the thermal mud. Along this time, the various preventing methods have been conducted by the government including to build embankments In the affected areas. Recently, the embankments of Lapindo mud disaster were built to accommodate the mudflows with the height of 11 m, top width of 5m, and the outside area in the number of ± 546.60 ha. However, the unpredicted mudflow influenced the embankment's dimension. On top of that, the mud storage capacity also increases annually. Departing from that, the study plan on advanced embankment using the storage capacity is able to accommodate the mudflow until 2030. This planning is based on the technical criteria of embankment, for instaces the planning criteria of irrigation, used materials from land heap which was tested by the laboratory of soil mechanic as well as the support of GeoSlope software to control the stability of slope. The result of the advanced planning embankment yielded that the height of the embankment in the amount of 19.6 m, the width of the top part in the size of 5 m, and the slope of the retining wall as many as 1:25 with the storage volume in 41.95 million m2.
