Abstract

Woman as a single parent or widow sometimes gets the impression from society that women are considered less competent in build a family, then compare again with her job as a night worker woman like purel or karaoke guides songs. This research aimed to uncover the facts about parenting by purel karaoke as a widow and to know the social reality in the district Sawahan karaoke guide the city of Surabaya. The method in this research use fenomenology research methods. Data obtained from interviews, observation and documentation, which lasted for three months. The subject of research using purposive sampling technique that is the subject chosen based on certain criteria, such as; the subject of a widow aged under 30 years and had a child. This research usesrational choice theory or rational action by James S. Coleman to know more details about the subject of rational choice about how parenting widow. The results of this study are; 1) The subject became a purel due to economic reasons even though there is a subject that does the job for voluntary, 2) The dilemma of the subject you want to raise a child in order to be a good person but he himself worked as a perceived negatively in society, 3) Parenting the applied by subjects using authoritarian parenting, democratic and permissive.
