Abstract

Background : Hospital is a health service institute which has a high risk of the safety and health of people around it. One of the worker that had risk for their work is cleaning services who are dealing with exposure of biological factors and chemicals. One way to control the risk is by using personal protective equipment according to the type of the job. The behaviour of using personal protective equipment(PPE) suspected to be influenced by various factors, such as knowledge and attitude. Objective : To determine the correlation between knowledge and attitude of cleaning service with use of PPE in Muhammadiyah Malang University Hospital. Methods : Analytical-observation with cross-sectional approach. The sample size were 55 respondents used total sampling technique. Results : Bivariat Analysis with Chi-Square test showed that there was no significant correlation between knowledge and use of PPE with value p=0,110, also there was no significant correlation between attitude and use of PPE with value p=0,631. Conclusions : There was no correlation between knowledge and attitude of cleaning service with use of PPE in Muhammadiyah Malang University Hospital.
