Abstract

Baja A36 is a low carbon steel that is widely used in the field of shipping and railway industry. Steel ASTM A36 is also selected to be a specification of mechanical testers and micro structures with heat treatment provided. This research aims to find out the results of the impact testing and microstructures in ASTM A36 steel with Normalizing Heat treatment and with no Normalizing Heat Treatment treatment. The method used in this research is the SMAW welding which after welding material is given heat treatment with a variation of temperature of 800oC, 850oC, 900oC and with no treatment. The results showed the most optimal temperature at 900oC with an average price of 0.826 Joule/mm2 impact, while at 800oC is the lowest with an average price of impact of 0.663 Joule/mm2.
