Abstract
Voltage sag is one of the problems that occur in the electric power system caused by several things, one of which is a short circuit. Voltage sag results in a voltage drop of 10% to 90% of normal voltage and occurs for half cycle to 1 minute. Voltage sag must be addressed immediately because it can damage electronic components that are sensitive to voltage changes. The purpose of this study is to improve the voltage sag using a DVR with the PI-PSO controller. In addition, this study also compares DVR without controller, with PI controller, and with PI-PSO controller in injecting drop voltage that occurs during voltage sag. Based on simulation of voltage sag on the electric power distribution system using MATLAB R2016a, it was found that DVR without controller, with PI controller, and with PI-PSO controller were able to correct voltage up to 203.47 V, 203.73 V, and 203.77 V. respectively, error steady state value is 7.51 %, 7.40 %, 7.38 %. this show that PI-PSO controller is more reliable than DVR without a controller and with PI controller in injecting voltage.
