Abstract
The history of television broadcasting in Indonesia has started by the existence of TVRI. Not long after in the decade of 1990s there are private television station pioneered by RCTI followed by TPI, SCTV, ANTV and Indosiar. During the next development, there are several local television stations under the protection of UU No. 32 Tahun 2002 as the place for regional area to actualize themselves within the spirit of regional autonomy. Batu TV as one of local private television station has been established to answering the need of local market. Batu TV isexpected to be able answering the need of the community in Malang Raya, also it will be interesting to take review concerning the level of fulfillment of local information need. Method used in this study is quantitative study. Respondent in this study is the community in RT.01 RT.02 RW.09 Desa Sisir Kota Batu using the sample of 121 people. While the basictheory used in this study is uses and gratification theory, which is theory about utilization and the fulfillment of need. Based on the result of the study and after the data being analyzed, author might conclude that there is relationship between news programs Info 7 Malang Raya within Batu TV toward the fulfillment of local information need. Correlation calculation has shown the rate of X variable that is news program Info 7 Malang Raya within Batu TV toward Y variable that is the fulfillment of local information need reaching 0.639. Therefore it can be concluded that the variable of news program Info 7 Malang Raya within Batu TV has a significant relationship toward the fulfillment of local information need.
