Abstract

The shift value of debt has changed the view of society as a scourge that makes debt become a habit or lifestyle. For students themselves, owe has become a habit. Reasons and causes of the debt itself is also kind of behavior kind of. Behavior is indebted to the consumption expenditure that is greater than the disposition of income, where the difference is paid out of previous savings or a loan to a subsequent earnings stoke. Uncertainty avoidance is the mind of people towards a situation where members of a culture feel threatened by unknown situations and can not be defined, as well as trying to avoid it. This research is quantitative. The population in this study were students at the Muhammadiyah University of Malang. Samples from this research are about 60 people taken using incidental sampling technique. The data was collected using two scales namely uncertainty avoidance scale and the scale of debt behavior. While method of data analysis used in this research are product moment correlation. Based on the research that has been executed can be concluded that there was a significant negative relation between uncertainty avoidance and dissaving behavior (r = 0.577 and p = 0.000), which means if you have a high uncertainty avoidance behavior, the lower debt and vice versa, if you have the uncertainty avoidance lower the higher the behavioral owe. The effective contribution of behavioral variables of uncertainty avoidance on the debt amounted to 33.3%, which is seen from the determinant coefficient (r2) equal to 0333). This means that the variable of uncertainty avoidance behavior contributed 33.3% to 66.7% in debt while the rest are other variables that are not investigated.
