Abstract

This research aims to explore the efforts of the pro-life movement in advocating for the protection of the fetus's right to life in the United States from 2019-2022. The issue of abortion in the United States has created divisions within society, with the pro-life movement emerging as a group opposed to abortion. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this research seeks to depict the issue of abortion in the country and efforts undertaken by the pro-life movement. This research utilizes the concept of new social movement, which revealing that the pro-life movement, in its series of efforts, seeks to employ strategies to gain social acceptance and become a successful social movement. The research findings indicate that the pro-life movement adopts a holistic and diverse approach, incorporating both direct campaigns such as door-to-door activities or marches, as well as indirect campaigns utilizing social media. The ultimate goal is to reach as many people as possible, convey the pro-life movement's message to a wider audience, and mobilize society to become more aware of the issues they advocate for. The pro-life movement serves as an example of a enduring new social movement with the ability to sustain its existence by continuously adapting to changes in the existing social context, while simultaneously building support and community involvement to uphold the most fundamental human rights, the right to life of the fetus, as outlined in the nation's declaration of independence.
