Abstract

Language has an important function in the society, because language is a way to communicate one another, mainly in communication. There are many kinds of non-standard languages and cultural identities built by languages; one of non-standard and cultural identities language is swear words. In daily life, swearing words are often met in many aspects one of them is in movie, such as Yowis Ben movie directed by Bayu Skak. In this research, the researcher discusses the usage of swearing word by Bayu Skak in Yowis Ben movie. The purpose of this study is to classify the types of swearing words and the purposes which cause the characters use the swearing word in the movie. In this research, the researcher uses content analysis method in analyzing the swearing words in Yowis Ben movie, which uses descriptive qualitative because the researcher attempted to describe and analysis the selected swearing words used in the form of words and the data was explained descriptively. The object of this study was Bayu Skak, the main character of Yowis Ben movie. The result of this study is to show the types and the reasons of swearing words used by Bayu Skak. There are three types of swearing word found in Yowis Ben movie: abusive swearing, emphatic swearing, and cathartic swearing. Moreover, there are three types of reasons of swearing word found in Yowis Ben movie such as psychological motives, social motives, and linguistics motives. These are based on the words used both in the movie and in types of swearing word mentioned such as jancok, cok, kirek, jangkrik etc.
