Abstract

In broadcasting information, ideas and attitudes, the media has influenced people's views in forming opinions. The characteristics of mass media, such as the existence of a wide, heterogeneous audience, fast and simultaneous delivery of information are the main reasons why many parties look to mass media as a means of disseminating certain messages. Recently, there was a fatal riot incident after a football match at the Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang which caused hundreds of deaths. This incident certainly did not escape the attention of the media, many mass media competed to present news by highlighting this topic. The news presented by the media is not the actual reality, it does not only show the opinion of the news source but also the construction of the media itself. In reporting on the Kanjuruhan Tragedy, the mass media, especially the media-online Detik.com (national scale) and Radarmalang.jawapos.com (local scale) also have differences in presenting reality. Therefore, this research aims to determine the frame of the two media in presenting information.
This research uses a qualitative approach with an interpretive type. The object of this research is a news article about the Kanjuruhan Tragedy presented by Detik.com and Radarmalang.jawapos.com in the 2-8 October 2022 edition. The data collection technique used was a documentation study. And the data analysis technique used is analysis-framing Zhongdang Pan & Gerald M. Kosicki model using four devices-framing namely syntax, script, thematic, and rhetorical. Mass Media Construction is a theoretical basis for understanding how an event is reconstructed by media workers to be conveyed to the public.
Based on the results of research by analyzing 6 news stories, it was found that related to reporting on the Kanjuruhan tragedy, Detik.com tended to lean towards a liberal ideology, this is in line with detik.com in its framing which is bolder in presenting news that can lead readers' opinions and tries to reveal the causes of the Kanjuruhan tragedy. and criticized the police institution (government) by stating that police officers must enforce discipline.Whereas Radar Malang tends towards the Social Responsibility Ideology. Radar ProximityPoor with the police and TNI to make the media more careful in framing the Kanjuruhan tragedy where the police and TNI were involved in the incident which killed hundreds of victims. It is clear from the results of the news frame that the choice of words is refined.
