Abstract

Film is one of mass media which can easily accepted by various kinds of people from many different background. Film also able to be considered as a medim that can represent and contruct the reality of life. Inside Out is a film tells about the emotional adventure of an 11 years old girl who must try to adapt at new envinronment. This film show the value of honesty, responsibility that can create the balance in friendship as well as in family life and also value of sacrifice, which that values are elements of compassion. This study aims to find out how the affection message contained in the film. This study uses a qualitative approach while the type of research use interpreatative with semiotic analysis methods by Roland Barthes to reveal the meaning of denotations, connotation and myths. Based on the results of the study, Inside Out shows a form of affection with different prespective which is based on compassion of sympathy, attention, helping other and sacrifiece between family life and social life. Affection based on mercy, there is no element of strings attached, but because of purity want help each other. What was suffered by other, they felt sympathy and participated in fell suffer.
