Abstract
This study is a survey on tourism in Banjarmasin city entitled The Effort of Increasing The Income of Banjarmasin city trough it s Tourism sector . This study aims at knowing the amount of visitors visiting Banjarmasin tourist resort and its income progress in the year of 2002 2006; knowing the amount of tourist visit on some Banjarmasin s tourist resort in the year of 2007 2011; and knowing the difficulties faced by Culture and Tourism Department of Banjarmasin city in increasing their tourism income and knowing its strategy to deal with this problem as well. The data used are primary and secondary ones gotten from Culture and Tourist Department of South Kalimantan Province and also from The Center of Statistic office which deals with tourism sector. This result of the analysis shows that the growth of income gotten from the tourist visit is increasing in 2002 up to 2006 shows a raise up to 21,47 % about 5,36 % in its average. By using trend analysis that is Y = a + bX, can be obtained result of projection amount of foreign countries tourist from year 2007 until 2011.This projection can be archived which show that the tourism industry is getting better so that its management should be done in such professional way and it should not forget the factors influencing the visit of tourists in Banjarmasin. From the result of the analysis, then it is found out that the problem faced by the tourism department in deal with the reduce income gotten from the tourism sector due to the lack of seriousness of the local government in managing its tourism potency, lack of promotion done, lack of qualified human resource who can manage the tourism object, and other common barriers. Based on the analysis above, the writer suggest that in order to increase its tourism income the local government of Banjarmasin should plan a mature tourism plan in both the financial management and its facilities. The marketing activities should be done continuously as a promotion media and the government also needs to cooperate with other related sector and institution to optimize the Banjarmasin tourism.
