Abstract
This research is an applicative research that uses secondary data from BPS by topic “Identification of Economical Potential in Tulungagung (The Application of Theory of Economical Basic)”. The purpose of this research is to know how far the contribution of each sector and economical sub sector to PDRB in Tulungagung and to identify what economical sector that is potential to develop in Tulungagung. Analysis tool used is contribution counting of each sector, sub sector and Location Quotien (LQ) used to know potential sector and sub sector to develop in Tulungagung. Sector giving the biggest contribution to PDRB in Tulungagung is trade sector that has contribution for about 29, 51%. And sub sector giving the biggest contribution to PDRB is sub sector of big and small trade that has contribution for about 26, 25 %. On the other side, the sector which gives the lowest contribution for electricity sector is around 0,96%. Then the subsector which gives the lowest contribution for any other goods is 0,01%. Based on LQ analyzed criteria, we could recognize that there are several potential sectors in Tulungagung marked by more than one LQ value. Taken from analysis result above, agriculture, mining and digging, trade, motel and restaurant, finance, rental and corporation service become potential sectors since 2000-2005. There are also sectors that have the highest average are finance, rental and corporation service with the value 2,72 and the lowest one is building sector with value 0,56. The subsector that has the highest value is entertainment with 5,43 and the lowest one is from the goods with 0,01. According to the research above, we should increase the sector and subsector in Tulungagung and also its competitive and specialization skills.
