Abstract
Aedes sp is one of mosquito that acts as disease vector of microorganisme to human being, to reduce the spreading of disease caused by microorganisme, controlling the adult and the larva of Aedes sp has been done. The aims of the research was to know the effect of calcium hypochlorite in water toward the hatching process of Aedes sp eggs. This research was conducted by using laboratoryexperimental method with posttest only control group design. The result showed that : concentration of calcium hypochlorite 5. 109 M, 50% of the eggs did not hatch. In the concentration 5. 106 M, hatched. In the concentration of 5. 1011 M, 5. 1010 M, 5.108 M and 5. 107 M the percentage of eggs dead not hatch were 42%, 45%, 68,75%, and 85% respectivelly. The result of one way ANOVA analysis showed that at significant (p = 0,000), there was a significance relation between concentration of calcium hypochlorite with the total Aedes sps eggs did not hatch (p < 0,005). The cause of eggs did not hatch was the existence of chlorine, an active substance in calcium hyoichlorite, which can oxidize (burn) Aedes sp eggs living in water, in this case to destroy the protein in the Aedes sp eggs. This research, can be concluded that the calcium hypochlorite in water prevent hatching process of eggs in controlling Aedes as disease vector.
