Abstract
Lettuce is potentially to our lives, because we can consume this leaves vegetable directly in fresh condition. Lettuce can be planted by verticulture system, even this system can economizing yard, but the available of the yard is pursued this system, because if we only have tight yard, automatically we only can make this system in limited development, in this case the wide of yard influence that system. However that problem can solve by taking verticulture system in various model and also closeness amount of plants. In verticulture system, usually use cow shed manure, worm trace, Azolla compost, and Bokashi, with that proportion according to amount of that manure, so we can get the right media for planting lettuce by verticulture. The research was done at Green House, Agriculture Faculty, University of Muhammadiyah Malang, from January through March 2005. The experiment was arranged in a factorial block random design with two factor (I) kinds of Organic materials(BO), comprised: BO1(worm trace), BO2(cow shed manure), BO3(compost of Azolla), BO4(Bokashi),and (II) proportion (K), comprised: K1(comparison of organic material and soil 1:1), and K2( comparison of organic material and soil 2:1) The result of this experiment shows that there is no significant interaction among the two factors to growth and yield of lettuce by verticulture system. Bokhasi giving the best growing of lettuce, especially in plants height and number of leaves, while compost of Azolla, wormtrace, and Bokashi compost giving high number of chlorophil amount in plant. The increasing of organic materials and soils proportion 1:1 to become 2:1 not yet earned to improve the average of all plant growth and yield parameter.
