Abstract
Moral development is crucial for shaping prosocial behavior and improving individual well-being. Elementary school students are often found to be skilled liars, disrespectful to teachers, and excessively use social media, unlike adults. Some students even dare to shout at teachers with rude words, and some even intimidate their friends or teachers. Morals are not only understood through the mind and felt emotionally, but must also be applied in children's daily behavior. This study aims to develop and test the validation of a picture storybook using storytelling as a medium to shape moral behavior in elementary school-aged children. The subjects of this study were 7 fifth-grade students of Elementary School X. This storybook was developed through a series of research and product development procedures, namely potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, and product trials. This study also used a moral development scale. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference before and after the treatment of reading picture storybooks using the storytelling method. This indicates that this picture storybook can stimulate moral behavior in elementary school-aged children.
