Abstract
Identifying individual learning style is very beneficial in studying the lesson and solving any learning problem. Applying appropriate learning style will help the learner succeed in learning. This study aimed at identifying learning style employed by English students and the most dominant learning style the student should apply in their study. The research design in this study was descriptive research. The subject of this study was English students academic year 2008/2009 at University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The writer applied random sampling by meant all the students would have the same chance to be taken as the subject of this study. There were 30 students which consisted of six representative students from every classes A to E. The instruments used to collect the data were interview and questionnaire. The finding of this study showed that there were three kinds of learning style used by the English students. Those were visual, auditory, and kinesthetic style. There were 19 students (63%) chose visual, eight students (27%) chose auditory, and three students(10 %) chose kinesthetic learning style applied in their study. The most dominant learning style applied by English students was visual style (63%).
