Abstract
The power of pious (Kiai) in Madura is a title that author exposes in this research. The expose this title to surface is just only based on author’s worry with power of pious that high very phenomenal in this area. Then, author distinguishes between meanings of power as we see often in daily activity and the power concept of pious in this explanation. Because, the power that be attention in this writing is a power that not has physically form, and it become integral part of social space. In this order, pious is a prime actor to distributes the power for social environment that makes social in obedience, to be subjected, following, and taqlid with him. The circumstances this like become clearer, when the power of pious just only for pious interest, and group itself as decider at social reality. Based on fact, this power is not be itself or taken for granted, but it results of contraction from power actor that affirmed by reality contraction. In other hand, this power operates dynamically in social environment, because the power actor and social contraction reciprocates to reach of goal. The question research in this research is: How Power of Pious in Madura? A genealogy studies of pious power in Madura. The goal this research, to know, to understand the factors that formed power of pious in Madura, and to descript, to interpreted, and to identify the forms of pious power in Madura. The subject of research in this research is social of the Dusun Tenggina Desa Larangan Perreng Kecamatan Pragaan Kabupaten Sumenep Madura, that have characteristic as decider before. For examples, they have ever been be of student of pious, and still live in this Dusun, the students are studying at this pious institution. Both characteristic at research subjects are had been student of pious during 7-10 years. The collection technique of data is: Observation, Interview, and documentation. The theory we use to deconstruct about reality of pious power is: Michel Foucault’s power theory. This theory states, that repressive power and hegemonic power in social order is power that can not be presented physically in daily activity. But, unavoidable that this power really can makes a subject be in self jail of the power actor. The subject circumstance is as doll only of power actor representation. This actor, in Foucault perspective is an actor can decides on going process at historical transformation. The actor plays the power softly, and plays the minds of social. Easily, the power operates suitable with throbbing of social space that became place of the power operation, and social reality follows the rules of the power itself.
