Abstract

Excessive cough is very disturbing, it causes sleep disruption and reduce the quality of life. There are many kinds of cough medicine products spread in Indonesia, because of their various choices, it is hard for the people to choose the appropriate products (Wiyono, 2011). In this case, for a simple cough, people can do their self medication. The objective of the study is to know the patientsÂ’ behaviors profile of self medication in cough theraphy in Kedungkandang district area of Malang city community. This study was an observational research by using descriptive analysis and questioner. The result of this research showed that the knowledge of the respondents about cough symptoms, in this case, the definition of the cough, the type of the cough, indicates the result; excellent category 81%, medium 18%, poor 1%. The result of respondents behavior research shows, e.g. drugs choices and the instructions of using the medicine; positive category 69% and negative 31%. Contributing factor variables, in this case the drugs supply completeness, the hygienists and the comfort, it shows that good category 40%, medium category 55% and poor category 5%. The supporting factor variables, in this case the drugs information the pharmacy keeper services research shows that positive category 53% and negative category 47%.
