Abstract
This study examines the effect of social support on academic persistence among final-year undergraduate students and investigates the mediating role of academic self-efficacy. The study employed a quantitative explanatory design involving 232 final-year students recruited through convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, the Academic Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Academic Persistence Scale. Mediation analysis was conducted using PROCESS Model 4. The results revealed that social support significantly predicted academic persistence directly (b = 0.606; p < .001) and indirectly through academic self-efficacy (b = 0.488), with a total effect of b = 1.054. The findings indicate that academic self-efficacy partially mediates the relationship between social support and academic persistence. These results suggest that persistence in completing academic tasks is not only influenced by supportive environments but also by students’ confidence in their ability to meet academic demands.
