Abstract

Dating violence, whether physical, psychological or sexual violence, is a traumatic experience that can increase an individual's risk of experiencing psychological disorders, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The impact of PTSD on dating violence victims can involve various aspects, such as self-blaming, where the victim blames themselves for the traumatic experience they have experienced. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in reducing PTSD symptoms in victims of dating violence. This research uses the Systematic Case Studies research type. The subjects in this study were three people with inclusion criteria: age range 20 – 25 years, had experienced violence in dating for the last six months to 1 year, and experienced PTSD symptoms with an onset of ˃1 month to a maximum of 6 months as obtained from the assessment clinical. Data measurement uses clinical interviews, observations, and the PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5). The research results show that Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is effective in reducing symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in victims of dating violence. Through six therapy sessions, the subject experienced positive changes in self-understanding, ability to manage negative thoughts and emotions, and learned to develop a better quality of life. The ACT intervention led to a decrease in PTSD symptom scores, as indicated by the results of measurements using the PCL-5.
