Abstract

The phenomenon of illegal immigrants in Europe has become one of the challenges faced by the European Union. These illegal immigrants are individuals who enter European territory without official permission and violate the provisions set out in the Schengen Agreement. This gives rise to various issues such as security, border integrity, resource management, as well as social and economic impacts on the member countries of the European Union. The study evaluates the role of the European Union in dealing with illegal immigrants in Europe associated with the schengen treaty. Research methods used are descriptive qualitative with findings indicating a successful integration of the European Union's border security and control systems through schengen where data was obtained from the literature study. . This concept provides a framework for understanding how the EU acts as an instrument, arena, and actor in addressing the issue of illegal immigration in Europe. In all, the schengen agreement has been a significant achievement in promoting greater integration among European Union member states, but its effectiveness in managing migration and safety depends on the ability of member states to work together and effectively coordinate.
