Abstract

This study is begin from students problems in solving math narrative question. Based on interview and observations with mathematics teachers at XI-IPS grade SMA N 9 Malang was found the result of middle test especially on word problem is low. It is because (a) the students have difficulty on applying the math narrative question into the formula and mathematical model, (b) teachers are still using conventional model and dominated in learning than students. So, the researcher uses the problem posing teaching model to solve those problems and makes the students active. This study used descriptive qualitative approach. Qualitative approach emphasizes to analyze the condition of scientific object. Then, descriptive research design is the design used to obtain the information with describes the state of research subject based on the facts. So, this study can be said descriptive qualitative research. This research only focus on solving the problem on math word problem using problem posing teaching model. Results of this study indicated that the implementation of problem posing teaching model is very good and effective in solving the problem on math for word problem. It can be seen overall of average in implementation using problem posing teaching model achieve 83,5% with very good level of success. While the effectiveness in solving math word problem that showed by the average of teacher activity 83,5% (very good level of success), and students activity 81,9% (success with very good level of success). The overall of students respond that have been interviewed based on three groups can solve the problem on math word problem and average student learning result individually is 86,4 with 80%.classical complete.
