Abstract

Education cannot be separated from the development of a nation because students can develop all the potential that exists in itself to guarantee the future life. To achieve the educational goals that have been determined needed a vehicle for example through mathematics education. Along with the development, has discovered many new learning strategies to replace the old learning strategies that are conventional. New learning strategies such as learning Mind Mapping can be applied also in mathematics courses. So that students may be interested to learn mathematics. In junior high school mathematics learning, most learning is still using the conventional method (the teacher as a source of information), as a result students become passive so that the need for change in learning that makes students as subjects so that learning becomes more active and creative life. One of these learning approaches is a mind mapping. This strategy teaches students to develop the material and map out the mind in accordance with his thoughts while teachers only inform the concepts of matter. Therefore, the study aims to determine the learning outcomes with mind mapping on the Pythagorean Theorem and find out the results of class VIII student learning activities-D SMP N 1 DRINGU Probolinggo district. This study used qualitative approach to the type of descriptive research. Data taken in this study is the final test results and observations of student activity during the learning process takes place. From the observation results indicate that the active learning process of students in the class very well. From the data analysis results can be concluded that learning with mind mapping can be an alternative for teachers in the classroom learning process.
