Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a degenerative disease which has the characteristic that sugar (glucose) levels in the blood increase and exceed normal limits (hyperglycemic) (Zabala, 2017). Judging from the prevalence of DM in Indonesia, it is 8.5% (Indonesian Ministry of Health, 2020). Currently, oral antidiabetics arethe first line in the treatment of diabetes mellitus, the accuracy of drug use is an important factor in the success of the resulting therapy. Health Belief Model (HBM) is a person's perception regarding the susceptibility and efficacy of treatment that can influence a person's decisions regarding their health perception.
Objective: To determine patient perception factors according to the Health Belief Model (HBM) theory which influence the accuracy of using oral anti-dibetics at the Cukir Community Health Center, Jombang Regency.
Method: This research uses cross sectional research with analytical observational research. The sampling method was a total sampling technique and the instrument used in this research was a questionnaire. The data analysis used was univariate, normality and bivariate with Pearson correlation.
Results: Gender distribution data was obtained by the largest number of respondents, namely female at 71.7%, while male at 28.3%. Data on the age distribution of the largest number of respondents is in the age range 51-60 years (pre-elderly) at 41.7%, followed by those aged 61-70 years (elderly) at 33.3%.The factors Perceived Susceptibility (0.005), Perceived Severity (0.022),Perceived Benefits (0.014), and Self-efficacy (0.042) have a significant influence on the appropriateness of using oral antidiabetics with a Pearson correlation test value of <0.05. Meanwhile, the Perceived Barries factor (0.082) did not significantly influence the accuracy of using oral antidiabetics with a Pearson correlation test value > 0.05.
Conclusion:PerceivedSusceptibility,PerceivedSeverity,PerceivedBenefits, and Self-efficacy significantly influence the appropriateness of using oralantidiabetics. Meanwhile, Perceived Barriers did not have a significant effect on the appropriateness of using oral antidiabetics.
