Abstract
Beach forest provides every need of the community such as clothing, food, and housing. It is also functioned in the prevention of abration and intrution caused by the flow of sea water, beside acting as a (buffer zone) and (ecoton) betwenn land and sea which is susceptible to destruction. The population of Sendang Biru is increasing day by day. The depression to the each area due to the interaction between people and the beach forest are getting higher especially on the opening of new living area , over exploitation of natural resources and farming land conservation. All these action will disturb the existence of beach forest and will fanally cause the failure in function of ecosystem. This research was intended to find out about the structure and composition of vegetation as well as the species diversity of beach forest in Sendang Malang. Method used in this research was square line vegetation analysis with continues strip sampling which is intended to get the description of structure and composition of vegetation at beach distance zone from beach into the land. The result showed that there were difference on structure and composition of vegetation according both to each distance zone from beach into the land.
