Abstract

Every parent must have the desire to have a child. The child that parents expect is a perfect child without the slightest flaws. Parents also do not want their child to be born with abnormalities or defects in their bodies. The birth of a child who has special needs also does not know whether he is from a wealthy family, a family with a higher education, a poor family, or even a family that is devout in religion or not. So that parents are unable to refuse the birth of a child with special needs. The purpose of this study was to find out how much influence self regulation has on subjective well-being in parents who have children with special needs. This study used quantitative research with 155 research subjects, parents who have children with special needs and used the snowball sampling technique. Data analysis in this study used simple linear regression to measure whether there was an influence between the X and Y variables. The results showed that there was a significant effect on the self-regulation variable on both dimensions of subjective well-being, namely life satisfaction and positive affect (R² = .000 ; .006) and value (p) Sig. respectively are .313 and .362 which shows that (p) Sig. <0.05.
