Abstract

In Indonesia, especially Malang City, it is identified that there is rarely an online media portal that presents news on the topic of food journalism, even though Malang City has a lot of potential for diverse culinary. This identification is the reason Kanekabe.com is present and has characteristics as a creative media, in terms of appearance, social media and issues or news raised referring to the terminology of food journalism journalistic work. In carrying out journalistic activities, it is certainly inseparable from the role and involvement of the editor-in-chief who has a lot to do in editorial activities.
In the production process, the Chief Editor implements the concept of 'Editorial Management' in the Kanekabe.com newsroom. There are POAC stages (Planning, Organizing, Actuating and Controlling) as the main foundation to help the newsroom manager's work process in utilizing resources, to be precise and efficient. The POAC theoretical foundation is also implemented in finding, processing and broadcasting news through the Kanekabe.com portal. The methods used in determining the online media portal are research by analyzing five competitor websites, surveys by distributing questionnaires and interviews with three expert sources in the field of journalism. Data from the results of research, surveys and interviews are used as references and support for the Kanekabe.com online media portal.
During the production process, it can be concluded that the Chief Editor in his role implements the principles of journalism.
During the production process, it can be concluded that the Chief Editor in his role implements the POAC editorial management principles in the Kanekabe.com newsroom. The Editor-in-Chief performs the role of policy maker by modifying decisions during the production process because it adjusts the conditions of effectiveness in the field. Another policy is the dual role performed by the entire team, given the inadequate human resources. The modification made from the editorial management function is the addition of an evaluation stage. The Editor-in-Chief is also the final stage script editor determining the feasibility of the article to be uploaded, and during production the writer also acts as a reporter.
