Abstract

In mathematics learning, the material for mathematics addition and subtraction operations in class I at SD Muhammadiyah 05 Batu is still minimal in using learning media, thus making students less active in the learning process. Therefore, efforts are needed to develop learning media. This research aims to develop Smart Calculation Box (KOPIN) learning media for Mathematics Addition and Subtraction Material for class I students at SD Muhammadiyah 05 Batu which is in accordance with needs analysis.
This research uses the ADDIE Model Development which consists of 5 stages, namely (1) Analysis, (2) Design, (3) Development, (4) Implementation, (5) Evaluation. Data was obtained from grade 1 students at SD Muhammadiyah 05 Batu, totaling 13 students in the 2023/2024 academic year. The data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, questionnaires, documentation.
The results of the research show (1) the use of smart counting box learning media (KOPIN) makes students more active in learning activities in class, (2) the use of smart counting box media (KOPIN) can improve students' understanding of counting, this is shown by the results of the evaluation students obtained an average score of 86.2% in addition operations and 83.7% in subtraction operations.
The results of this research show that the smart counting box (KOPIN) media for addition and subtraction calculation operations in grade I elementary school mathematics is very feasible and effective for use in the learning process.
