Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about significant changes in education in Indonesia, transforming in-person learning into online learning. Online learning faces various challenges, including issues with motivation, inappropriate teaching methods, unstable internet connections, and a lack of understanding of the materials. However, online learning also offers benefits such as ease of communication, flexibility, and accessibility. This research aims to uncover the experiences and perspectives of teachers and students using online learning systems for biology education. The study's results indicate that teachers have gained pedagogical technology knowledge but still encounter challenges related to resources, training, benefits, and intentions to teach online. Students are considered technologically ready but not institutionally, individually, and content-wise prepared. They also show unpreparedness in terms of acceptance and ease of use. Therefore, this research highlights the need for further support in developing teachers' capabilities and preparing students for online learning in the future.
