Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the development of learning media for the Koca water cycle diorama (weather box) in science and science learning for grade IV elementary schools. This was done because in class IV of SD Muhammadiyah 05 Batu there was a needs analysis, namely a lack of variation in the learning process such as limited availability of learning media and teachers often explaining the material repeatedly so that students felt bored, saturated and less active when the learning process took place, especially in science and science learning on the water cycle material. In this regard, science and science learning for class IV at SD Muhammadiyah 05 Batu requires learning media that can support the learning process.
This research uses the ADDIE research and development model including (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation). The subjects of this research were class IV students at SD Muhammadiyah 05 Batu, totaling 9 students. Data collection techniques used include observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. This research instrument uses observation guidelines, interview guidelines, questionnaire guidelines. There are two data analysis techniques used, namely qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques.
The validation results from material experts got a percentage score of 94%, while media experts got a percentage score of 91% with a very valid category for implementation. The student's response received a score of 94%, the teacher's response received a score of 95% in the strongly agree category. Based on these results, it is stated that dioramas can be applied to science and science learning about the water cycle in class IV elementary schools. However, there is a drawback, namely that the media is designed using materials that are not light enough and require another person to carry it. The material in this media is limited, namely only water cycle material. The hope is that the diorama media is designed to be used for a wider range of material. Diorama media can be used as a reference, utilized and refined in further research to make it better.
