Abstract

Digital transformation is very important role in increasing the effectiveness of learning, because it helps in accessing distance (online) education facilities. In this research, the author conducted research at SMK Negeri 1 Kepanjen by implementing one of the cloud computing services, namely Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) on a Moodle-based LMS system. IaaS is one of the services provided by cloud computing. Virtualization technology using IaaS can convert physical resources into virtual resources, allowing users to fully control the infrastructure dynamically according to required specifications, and can increase efficiency and scalability. In this research, the author used a case study approach by going through several research stages including data collection, system development using agile methods, and direct system testing. Through interviews and observations, it is known that SMK Negeri 1 Kepanjen has a network architecture with well-structured physical resources, but still has several obstacles in carrying out learning and exams on the Moodle LMS system. Therefore, in this research the author tries to implement Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) on the Lms-Moodle system at SMKN 1 Kepanjen using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to help overcome the various obstacles faced. Testing was carried out using Apache JMeter tools, with a scenario of 100, 1000 , until 10000 users, with a ramp-up period of 100 seconds, testing included throughput, response time, latency and error rate parameters. The test results show that the performance of implementing one of the cloud computing services, namely IaaS, on the LMS-Moodle system at SMKN 1 Kepanjen produces superior performance compared to physical servers in all parameters, in particular showing a significant reduction in latency.
