Abstract

The widespread popularity of K-pop in Indonesia has spurred many teenagers to actively engage as fans within their community. Social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, has emerged as a favored platform for K-pop enthusiasts to connect and showcase their admiration for their idols. This interest extends beyond mere fondness and can evolve into celebrity worship, potentially leading to detrimental effects such as addiction and obsessive behavior. Influenced by various factors including identity development issues, feelings of isolation, and insufficient social skills, this phenomenon underscores the critical role of family in shaping adolescents' identities. If families fail to serve as adequate role models, adolescents may seek solace and inspiration in their K-pop idols. This study seeks to explore the correlation between parental attachment and celebrity worship among adolescent K-pop fans on social media platform X, employing non-experimental quantitative methods. Utilizing the Inventory of Parent-Peer Attachment Revised (IPPA-R) and Celebrity Attitude Scale (CAS), 269 respondents were selected through accidental sampling. Pearson correlation analysis revealed no significant association between parental attachment levels and celebrity worship, indicating that parental influence may not significantly impact celebrity worship among adolescent K-pop fans on social media X.
