Abstract

One of the countries with the highest HIV infection rates is Indonesia. However, the number of HIV cases in Indonesia has decreased between 2019 and 2021, and the Ministry of Health is striving to continue reducing the number of HIV cases year on year. The launch of the Global Health Initiative is one of effort to minimize the spread of HIV cases made by Indonesian government's to assist in contribute to the achievement to one of the Sustainable Development Goals. In this research used method descriptive-qualitative, with data collected through literature reviews and analysis carried out using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The results of this study indicate that, through GHI, Indonesia has a strategy for reducing the spread of HIV, including achieving the MDGs and continuing to pursue them in the SDGs in the health sector, developing health research and scientific partnerships, and collaborating on global health issues. Therefore, with the GHI strategy in Indonesia, it can be said that the three strategies implemented are able to help Indonesia achieve MDG 3, particularly with regard to HIV transmission, given that Indonesia has a high level of HIV.
